Filipino Cheese Bread
Soft Filipino cheese bread is coated in a buttery, sweet, cheesy crumble.

Ingredients for Filipino Cheese Bread
- 3 1/2 cups high-grade flour
- 1/2 cup potato flakes
- 1 tbsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup warm water
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1 cup milk
- 3/4 cup sugar, plus 1 tbsp
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 egg
- 2 cups grated cheddar cheese
- 1 cup powdered milk
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
- 1/4 cup butter, room temperature and cubed
How to cook Filipino Cheese Bread
- 1.Stir yeast, warm water, and 1 tbsp sugar; leave somewhere warm for 10 minutes until foamy.
- 2.Whisk melted butter, milk, egg, 3/4 cup sugar, and salt. Mix in the yeast mixture.
- 3.Gradually incorporate high-grade flour and potato flakes; knead 10 minutes until smooth. Cover in a greased bowl and let double, about 1 hour.
- 4.Combine cheddar, powdered milk, all-purpose flour, powdered sugar, and cubed butter until crumbly.
- 5.Divide dough into 3 logs, then cut each into 7 to 10 pieces. Shape into balls and press generously into the cheese coating.
- 6.Place on lined trays, rise 30 minutes until about 1 1/2 times larger, then bake at 150°C for 15 minutes until lightly golden.
