Japanese Siomai
Japanese Siomai wraps a juicy pork-and-shrimp filling in nori for a simple steamed snack.

Ingredients for Japanese Siomai
- 500 g pork, finely chopped
- 300 g shelled shrimp, chopped
- 1 small carrot, grated
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- Salt
- Nori sheets
How to cook Japanese Siomai
- 1.Mix pork, shrimp, carrot, salt, cornstarch, and sesame oil thoroughly.
- 2.Place a nori sheet on a bamboo sushi mat and spread a generous, even strip of filling near one edge.
- 3.Roll firmly with the mat, pressing into a compact log. Remove the mat.
- 4.Moisten a sharp knife and cut the log into 1 1/2-inch pieces, moistening between cuts.
- 5.Steam for 20–25 minutes, until the pork and shrimp are fully cooked.
