Siopao Bola-Bola (Steamed Pork Buns)
Soft steamed siopao buns hold juicy bola-bola pork, shrimp, salted egg, and Chinese sausage.

Ingredients for Siopao Bola-Bola (Steamed Pork Buns)
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 1/2 tablespoon instant yeast
- 1/2 tablespoon double-acting baking powder
- 2/3 cup lukewarm milk
- 1/3 cup lukewarm water
- 3 tablespoons shortening
- 250 g ground pork
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup shrimp, chopped
- 1 small egg
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder or 1–2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1/2 teaspoon ground pepper
- Salt, if needed
- 2 salted eggs
- 1 Chinese sausage
- Parchment or wax paper
How to cook Siopao Bola-Bola (Steamed Pork Buns)
- 1.Mix flour, sugar, yeast, baking powder, milk, and water; work in shortening. Knead 10–12 minutes until smooth, then let rise 20–30 minutes.
- 2.Mix pork, onion, shrimp, egg, sesame oil, oyster sauce, garlic, flour, pepper, and salt. Cut salted eggs into portions and slice Chinese sausage.
- 3.Divide dough into 10 pieces. Roll each into a 4–5-inch round with a thicker center.
- 4.Add filling, salted egg, and sausage; gather, pinch, and twist dough closed. Rest buns 5–10 minutes.
- 5.Set each bun on paper in a spaced steamer and steam over low heat for 15 minutes, until puffed and cooked through.
