1 hour 10 minutes · Serves 6

Ingredients for Monghe

  • 700 g ground pork
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/2 cup grated processed cheese
  • 1/2 cup powdered milk
  • 1 can Spam, chopped into small pieces
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil, for frying
  • 2 eggs, beaten
  • Oil, for greasing
  • Water, for steaming

How to cook Monghe

  1. 1.In a mixing bowl, combine the ground pork, 4 eggs, grated processed cheese, powdered milk, chopped Spam, salt, and black pepper until evenly incorporated.
  2. 2.Lightly grease a sheet of aluminum foil with oil. Spread the meat mixture onto the foil, leaving about 1 inch of space on each side.
  3. 3.Roll the foil tightly into a log, tucking and twisting the ends closed to seal it.
  4. 4.Place the wrapped log in a steamer over boiling water and steam for 45 minutes, until firm and cooked through.
  5. 5.Remove the log from the steamer and let it cool to room temperature before unwrapping.
  6. 6.Slice the cooled loaf into 1/2-inch-thick pieces, then dip each slice in the beaten eggs to coat.
  7. 7.Heat the vegetable oil in a nonstick pan over medium heat. Fry the coated slices until golden brown on both sides, then serve with your preferred dipping sauce.
