Ginataang Puso ng Saging
Ginataang Puso ng Saging combines banana blossom and pork in a reduced coconut sauce.

Ingredients for Ginataang Puso ng Saging
- 1 banana flower bud (puso ng saging), outer 2 to 3 layers discarded and thinly sliced
- 250 g pork belly, sliced
- 2 cups coconut milk
- 1 tbsp vinegar
- 1 to 2 red chillies, sliced
- 1 tsp minced ginger
- 6 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 onion, chopped
- Oil, for cooking
- Fish sauce, to taste
- 2 tbsp salt
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
How to cook Ginataang Puso ng Saging
- 1.Soak sliced puso ng saging in salted water for 15 minutes. Drain, rinse, and squeeze out its liquid.
- 2.Heat oil in a wok; sauté onion, ginger, and garlic until aromatic.
- 3.Add pork and brown on all sides. Add banana blossom and cook for 2 minutes.
- 4.Add 1 cup water, 1 cup coconut milk, vinegar, and chillies. Cover, boil, then simmer medium-low for 15 to 20 minutes.
- 5.Season with fish sauce and pepper. Add remaining coconut milk and simmer over medium heat until thick and oily.
- 6.Turn off the heat and serve with steamed rice.
