Pinoy Shawarma Rice
Pinoy Shawarma Rice combines kasubha rice, grilled tapa, salad, hummus, and garlic yoghurt sauce.

Ingredients for Pinoy Shawarma Rice
- 2 cups jasmine rice
- 2 cups water
- 6 tablespoons margarine
- 1 teaspoon safflower (kasubha) or a pinch of saffron
- 2 tablespoons toasted garlic
- 1 cucumber, sliced
- 2 large tomatoes, sliced
- 1/2 head lettuce, chopped
- 125 g natural yoghurt, Greek or Indian
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 750 g beef rump steak
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup vinegar
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

How to cook Pinoy Shawarma Rice
- 1.Whisk yoghurt, 1 minced garlic clove, and salt; chill the Garlic Yoghurt Sauce.
- 2.Rinse rice, then cook with water, margarine, kasubha or saffron, and toasted garlic in a rice cooker; fluff when done.
- 3.Mix soy sauce, vinegar, 4 minced garlic cloves, and pepper; marinate beef overnight, then bring it out 2 hours before grilling.
- 4.Grill beef over high heat for about 4 minutes per side, depending on thickness; rest 5 minutes, then slice thinly.
- 5.Plate 1 1/2 cups rice per serving with cucumber, tomato, lettuce, grilled tapa, yoghurt sauce, and hummus.
