Filipino Pork Chop Steak
Filipino pork chop steak simmers pan-fried marinated chops in a calamansi-soy sauce with plenty of onions.

Ingredients for Filipino Pork Chop Steak
- 4 pork chops
- 5 tbsp soy sauce
- Juice of 2 limes or calamansi
- 2 onions, sliced
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 tsp granulated white sugar
- 1 1/2 cups water
- 1/2 cup cooking oil
- Salt, to taste
- Ground black pepper, to taste
How to cook Filipino Pork Chop Steak
- 1.Combine the pork chops, soy sauce, and lime or calamansi juice in a bowl or resealable bag and marinate for at least 1 hour.
- 2.Heat the cooking oil in a pan over medium heat.
- 3.Remove the pork chops from the marinade, reserving the marinade, and pan-fry the chops for 3 minutes per side; transfer them to a plate.
- 4.Using the remaining oil in the pan, saute the garlic until it starts to brown.
- 5.Add half of the sliced onions and cook until softened.
- 6.Pour in the reserved marinade and water, then return the pork chops to the pan.
- 7.Simmer for about 45 minutes, adding more water as needed, until the pork is tender.
- 8.Stir in the sugar, then season with salt and ground black pepper.
- 9.Add the remaining onions and cook for 3 minutes more, just until slightly softened.
- 10.Turn off the heat and serve the pork chops with the sauce and onions.
