Teriyaki Bistek
Rich soy-lemon beef with a sesame aroma and tender onions.

Ingredients for Teriyaki Bistek
- 2 lb skirt steak, sliced
- 1 lemon
- 3/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 2 tbsp white sugar
- 1 medium white onion, sliced into rings
- 1 cup water
- 1 tbsp cornstarch, dissolved in 2 tbsp cold water
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
- 1/4 cup oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
How to cook Teriyaki Bistek
- 1.Combine the soy sauce, sugar, and lemon juice. Marinate the steak in it for 30 minutes.
- 2.Remove the steak from the marinade and reserve the marinade. Heat the oil and sear the steak for 3 minutes.
- 3.Pour in the reserved marinade, water, and sesame oil. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 30 minutes; add water if needed.
- 4.When the liquid has reduced by half, stir in the cornstarch slurry until thickened.
- 5.Season with salt and pepper, add the onion, cover, and cook for 2 minutes.
- 6.Transfer to a serving plate and sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
