Maruya
Maruya is a crisp-edged saba banana fritter dusted with sugar.

Ingredients for Maruya
- 4 saba bananas, each sliced lengthwise into 3 pieces
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1 egg
- Pinch of salt
- Sugar, for serving
- Cooking oil, for frying
How to cook Maruya
- 1.Whisk flour, baking powder, milk, egg, and salt in a bowl until smooth.
- 2.Fold the sliced saba bananas into the batter until coated.
- 3.Heat oil in a wok over medium heat. Add banana slices individually, allowing space between them.
- 4.Lower heat and fry until golden brown and cooked through, turning as needed.
- 5.Drain on paper towels, sprinkle with sugar, and serve warm.
