Garlic Tokwa and Kangkong in Oyster Sauce

Crispy tokwa, kangkong, and golden garlic make a deeply savory rice-ready dish.

Ingredients for Garlic Tokwa and Kangkong in Oyster Sauce

  • 1 bunch kangkong (water spinach), chopped
  • 12 oz extra-firm tofu
  • 1 head garlic, crushed and chopped
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups cooking oil
  • 3 tbsp oyster sauce
  • 2 tsp Knorr Liquid Seasoning
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 1/2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1/2 cup water

How to cook Garlic Tokwa and Kangkong in Oyster Sauce

  1. 1.Cook garlic in 1/2 cup oil over medium heat; when bubbling, reduce to low and stir until golden. Strain, reserving garlic and oil.
  2. 2.Heat the remaining 1 cup oil with all but 3 tablespoons of garlic oil. Fry tofu until golden, cool slightly, then dice.
  3. 3.Whisk oyster sauce, Knorr Liquid Seasoning, soy sauce, cornstarch, and water until smooth.
  4. 4.Heat reserved garlic oil in a clean pan; sauté onion until soft. Add tofu and cook 30 seconds.
  5. 5.Add kangkong and sauté 1 minute. Add sauce and cook, stirring, until thickened.
  6. 6.Fold in half the browned garlic, then plate and top with remaining garlic.
