Ginataang Mackerel Okra
Ginataang Mackerel Okra is a fast coconut-milk stew with tender okra and savory canned fish.

Ingredients for Ginataang Mackerel Okra
- 1 can mackerel in oil (425 g), including contents
- 250 g okra, trimmed and halved
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 2 green chilies, chopped
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
How to cook Ginataang Mackerel Okra
- 1.Heat oil over medium heat; sauté garlic and onion until soft and fragrant.
- 2.Add canned mackerel with all its oil and sauce; gently break into large pieces and simmer for 2–3 minutes.
- 3.Add okra and cook for 2 minutes, until it starts to soften.
- 4.Add coconut milk and simmer gently for 8–10 minutes, until okra is tender and sauce slightly thickens.
- 5.Add green chilies, simmer 1 minute, season with salt and pepper, and serve with rice.
