Bistek Bangus
Bistek Bangus brings pan-fried milkfish together with a bright lemon-soy onion sauce.

Ingredients for Bistek Bangus
- 2 medium milkfish, sliced
- 2 large white onions, sliced into rings
- Juice of 3 lemons or 10 calamansi
- 1/2 cup soy sauce
- 1 cup water
- 2 teaspoons cornstarch
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Oil, for frying
How to cook Bistek Bangus
- 1.Season milkfish with salt and black pepper. Heat oil in a pan and fry fish until cooked through; set aside.
- 2.Using the same pan, sauté onion rings briefly until just softened, keeping them intact.
- 3.Whisk cornstarch, water, and soy sauce until smooth. Add to the pan and boil; add water if the sauce is too salty.
- 4.Stir in lemon or calamansi juice, season with salt and pepper, then turn off heat. Spoon sauce and onions over milkfish.
