Ingredients for Ginataang Tilapia (Tilapia in Spicy Coconut Milk)
- 1 tablespoon cooking oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 1 thumb-sized ginger, sliced
- 1 teaspoon fresh turmeric, cut into strips, optional
- 1 1/2 cups coconut milk
- 2 to 3 tablespoons fish sauce
- 2 to 3 medium tilapia, scaled, gutted, and cleaned
- 1 to 2 siling labuyo, cut into pieces
- 1 cup malunggay leaves or pak choi
How to cook Ginataang Tilapia (Tilapia in Spicy Coconut Milk)
- 1.Sauté garlic, onion, and ginger in oil over medium-low heat until aromatic. Add turmeric, if using, and cook 1 minute.
- 2.Pour in coconut milk and fish sauce, then bring to a gentle simmer.
- 3.Add tilapia and siling labuyo. Cover and cook 5 to 7 minutes, until fish flakes easily.
- 4.Add malunggay or pak choi 1 minute before removing from the heat, then serve.
