Sago Samalamig
Sago Samalamig is a refreshing brown-sugar drink with chewy sago, grass jelly, and plenty of crushed ice.

Ingredients for Sago Samalamig
- 3 tightly packed cups brown sugar, for syrup
- 1 tightly packed cup brown sugar, for sago
- 3 cups water
- 3 cups sago
- 2 tablespoons vanilla extract
- 1 can grass jelly, cubed
- Crushed ice
How to cook Sago Samalamig
- 1.Cook sago according to package directions; rinse, drain, cover with cold water, and stir in 1 cup brown sugar.
- 2.Melt ¼ cup of the syrup sugar in a pot until lightly caramelized, without burning it.
- 3.Add water, vanilla, and remaining syrup sugar; boil, then simmer at least 10 minutes until fully dissolved.
- 4.Strain syrup through cheesecloth or muslin. Fill glasses with syrup, sago, grass jelly, and crushed ice.
