Picadillo de Chayote
Picadillo de Chayote is a lightly sweet, herb-scented beef and chayote skillet meal.

Ingredients for Picadillo de Chayote
- 400 grams minced beef
- 4 chayote, peeled, seeded, and cubed
- 1 cup corn kernels
- 2 medium red tomatoes, chopped
- 1 1/2 tablespoons sugar
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 white onion, chopped
- 1 teaspoon dried sweet basil
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Olive oil
How to cook Picadillo de Chayote
- 1.Sauté onion, garlic, and tomatoes in olive oil over medium heat until the tomatoes soften.
- 2.Add minced beef and cook, breaking it apart, until light brown.
- 3.Add chayote and cook for 3 minutes.
- 4.Stir in corn, sugar, basil, and oregano; bring to a boil, then simmer 10–15 minutes until chayote is tender.
- 5.Season with salt and black pepper, then serve warm.
