Pandesal
Freshly baked Pandesal has a soft, lightly sweet crumb beneath its signature breadcrumb coating.

Ingredients for Pandesal
- 3 cups high-grade flour, plus more for dusting
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup lukewarm milk
- 1 egg, beaten
- 2 tablespoons butter, melted
- 1 1/2 teaspoons instant dry yeast
- 1/4 cup breadcrumbs
How to cook Pandesal
- 1.Combine flour, sugar, and salt. Stir in milk, egg, and butter, then fold in yeast until a sticky dough forms.
- 2.Knead on a floured surface about 15 minutes, until smooth and elastic.
- 3.Cover dough and let rise in a warm place for 30–60 minutes, until doubled.
- 4.Punch down, divide into two logs, and cut each log into 10 pieces. Roll each piece in breadcrumbs.
- 5.Place pieces 1 inch apart on a baking sheet; let rise again until doubled.
- 6.Bake at 180°C for 15 minutes, until lightly browned; serve hot.
