Crispy Tofu Squares
Crispy Tofu Squares are panko-crusted tofu bites served with a bright, savory creamy sauce.

Ingredients for Crispy Tofu Squares
- 2 large tofu blocks, about 650 g
- 1 cup flour
- 2 eggs, beaten
- 2 cups Japanese breadcrumbs (panko)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
- Cooking oil, for deep-frying
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 4 tbsp liver spread, optional for a vegetarian version
- 4 tsp liquid seasoning, such as Knorr or Maggi
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- Chopped spring onion, for garnish
How to cook Crispy Tofu Squares
- 1.Cut tofu into bite-sized cubes and pat very dry. Combine flour, garlic powder, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
- 2.Set out flour mixture, beaten eggs, and panko. Coat each tofu cube in flour, egg, then panko.
- 3.Deep-fry in batches until golden, about 4 minutes. Drain briefly, then refry at higher heat for 30 seconds.
- 4.Mix mayonnaise, liver spread, liquid seasoning, and lemon juice until smooth.
- 5.Drizzle sauce over hot tofu, garnish with spring onion, and serve immediately.
