Ingredients for Spicy Dilis
2 cups dried anchovies (dilis)
2 tablespoons banana ketchup
2 teaspoons hot chili sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
2 cups cooking oil
How to cook Spicy Dilis
1.Heat the cooking oil in a pot over medium-high heat until hot enough for frying.
2.Add the dried anchovies and deep-fry for 2 to 3 minutes, stirring as needed, until they turn light brown; turn off the heat, lift them out, and drain.
3.In a bowl, combine the fried dilis with banana ketchup and hot chili sauce, then mix until evenly coated.
4.Sprinkle in the brown sugar and toss until the anchovies are covered all over.
5.Reheat the oil over medium heat and fry the coated anchovies for about 2 minutes, just until crunchy and glossy; remove before the sugar darkens or burns.
6.Drain briefly, transfer to a serving plate, and serve once cool enough to crisp fully.
