A rich, creamy Pininyahang Manok with pineapple, vegetables, and melted cheese.

Ingredients for Shared. Millie’s Pininyahang Manok

  • 1 whole chicken, cut into small pieces
  • 1 whole onion, chopped
  • 1 whole garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 medium potatoes, peeled and quartered
  • 2 medium carrots, peeled and cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 1 red bell pepper, cut into 1-inch squares
  • 2 tablespoons patis (fish sauce)
  • Ground pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons pickles
  • 1 can (500 g) pineapple chunks in syrup
  • 3/4 cup evaporated milk
  • 1/2 cup grated cheese

How to cook Shared. Millie’s Pininyahang Manok

  1. 1.Heat olive oil in a Dutch oven over medium heat. Sauté garlic until golden, then cook onion until translucent.
  2. 2.Add chicken and sauté for 1 minute. Stir in patis, pepper, and pickles; cover and simmer until the chicken releases juices.
  3. 3.When chicken is half-cooked, add pineapple chunks with their syrup and continue simmering.
  4. 4.Add carrots and potatoes once chicken is cooked; simmer until the vegetables are tender.
  5. 5.Stir in bell pepper and bring to a boil. Add evaporated milk and cheese, stirring until melted, then serve with rice.
