Chicken Pochero
Chicken pochero is a tomato-based Filipino stew with chorizo, saba bananas, chickpeas, potatoes, and leafy vegetables.

Ingredients for Chicken Pochero
- 2 lbs chicken, cut into serving pieces
- 1 Knorr Chicken Cube
- 2 potatoes, cubed
- 2 bunches baby bok choy
- 1/2 head cabbage, sliced
- 8 ounces tomato sauce
- 18 long green beans
- 2 Chorizo de Bilbao, sliced
- 8 ounces chickpeas
- 3 saba bananas, sliced
- 2 tomatoes, diced
- 1 onion, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, crushed
- 2 cups water
- 3 tablespoons cooking oil
- Fish sauce to taste
- Crushed peppercorns to taste
How to cook Chicken Pochero
- 1.Heat oil in a pot and pan-fry chicken for 2 minutes per side; remove and set aside.
- 2.In the same oil, saute onion and garlic, then add chorizo and cook 1 minute.
- 3.Add tomatoes and cook until onion and tomatoes soften.
- 4.Return chicken to the pot, add tomato sauce and water, and bring to a boil.
- 5.Add chicken cube, cover, and cook over medium heat for 15 minutes.
- 6.Add potatoes, saba bananas, and chickpeas; cover and cook 12 minutes.
- 7.Add long beans and cabbage for 3 minutes, then bok choy for 2 minutes; season with fish sauce and crushed peppercorns.
