Pork Asado
Sweet-salty Filipino-Chinese Pork Asado with tender sliced pork and glossy sauce.

Ingredients for Pork Asado
- 1 kg whole pork tenderloin
- 1 tbsp Chinese five-spice powder
- 2 cups water
- 1/3 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup dark soy sauce
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 2 bay leaves
- 6 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 white onion, minced
- 1/4 cup Chinese cooking wine
- 1 tsp peppercorns
- 2 tsp cornstarch mixed with 2 tbsp water
- Salt, to taste
How to cook Pork Asado
- 1.Marinate pork with soy sauce, five-spice, garlic, onion, Chinese cooking wine, and salt for at least 1 hour.
- 2.Place pork, marinade, water, peppercorns, bay leaves, and dark soy sauce in a pot; bring to a boil.
- 3.Lower heat and simmer 1 hour, turning the pork once, until tender.
- 4.Rest pork for 10 minutes. Strain the braising liquid, then simmer it with cornstarch slurry until thickened.
- 5.Thinly slice the pork and spoon the thickened sauce over it.
